Overview

YOSHIの会 (Yoshi Coalition) is a Japanese-American nonprofit founded in 1992, dedicated to ending gun violence in the United States. The organization grew from the tragic shooting of Yoshihiro Hattori, a Japanese exchange student, and has been advocating for gun control ever since — gathering 1.7 million petition signatures and contributing to the passage of the Brady Bill.

I joined as a volunteer web designer to help bring their mission to a new generation. The organization's website serves as the primary platform for awareness, volunteer recruitment, scholarship information, and donations — supporting communities in both the U.S. and Japan.

As someone with deep roots in Japan now living in Austin, this cause is personal. Designing for YOSHIの会 means ensuring their 30-year legacy of advocacy reaches people clearly, accessibly, and with the dignity the cause deserves.
